Eating healthy carbohydrates is vital for your health. Carbs aren't foods to be avoided, in fact your body's preferred source of energy is carbohydrates -- not protein or fat. You need carbs to keep your body well-fueled. Healthy carbs are whole grain brown rice or sweet potatoes. Fruits & vegetables are carbs, too. The carbs that cost you the most calories & offer the least nutrition are refined so nutritionist Susan Bowerman suggests cutting back on pastries, sodas & white bread.
